eOne has pan-European licensing rights to The BFG and will be working in close collaboration with Planeta Junior to strengthen the consumer products programme in Spain. The agent will leverage its local expertise to increase retail exposure and distribution in Spain for eOne’s robust line-up of UK and European licensees including Blues (leisurewear), Winning Moves (Monopoly), C&M Licensing (nightwear, underwear and socks), Kinnerton (chocolate confectionery), Fashion UK (nightwear, underwear and socks), William Lamb (footwear and bags), Ravensburger (puzzles), Gemma International (greetings and wrap), Pyramid International (wall art and accessories), Danilo (calendars), Character World (bedding) and Imagin8 (FSDU retail solutions.)
 
Planeta Junior will also be supporting global merchandise deals with Funko, That Company Called If (gifting) and WETA (high end collectibles). Underground Toys will distribute Funko’s vinyl collectible figure of The BFG, in Europe.
 
In addition to expanding distribution for these deals in Spain, Planeta Junior will also be seeking new licensees for the Spanish market in the toy, homeware, gifting, stationery and apparel categories.

eOne will be directly distributing the film in the UK that will see two of the world’s greatest storytellers – Roald Dahl and Steven Spielberg – unite to bring Dahl’s beloved classic The BFG to life. Directed by Spielberg, “The BFG” tells the imaginative story of a young girl and the Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country. The film adaptation is based on a script by the late Melissa Mathison, who last teamed with Spielberg on “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.”  Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Sam Mercer will produce while Kathleen Kennedy, John Madden, Michael Siegel and Kristie Macosko Krieger are on board as executive producers.  Adam Somner is a co-producer. 
 
The Disney/Amblin/Reliance production in association with Walden Media will open this July during Roald Dahl 100, the centenary year of the celebrated author’s birth. The stellar cast includes 2016 Oscar winner Mark Rylance as The BFG, British newcomer Ruby Barnhill as Sophie, Rebecca Hall as the Queen’s maid and Penelope Wilton as The Queen.
